Source: Montgomery Advertiser, Ala.儲存倉Nov. 03--Tape that.Tre Mason gave the 66,835 at Reynolds Razorback Stadium, the SEC and the nation plenty of plays worth watching in No. 8 Auburn's 35-17 over Arkansas on Saturday night. The Auburn junior running back ran his way over, around and through the Razorbacks defense for 168 yards on a career-high 32 carries with four touchdowns -- the most by an Auburn player since Cam Newton accomplished the feat against Kentucky in 2010."I have a little slogan, it's called G.U.M.P. -- it's called Great Under Major Pressure," Mason said. "When the game's on the line, you got to be the one to make that play."In the meeting of Auburn coach Gus Malzahn's hurry-up, no-huddle offense and Arkansas coach Bret Bielema's "Normal American Football," it was Mason who stole the show.It was the third-highest rushing performance in the career of the Palm Beach, Fla. native, and the most carries by an Auburn player since Michael Dyer against Samford in 2011."He's starting to establish himself that we need to get the ball to, that can make things happen," Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. "He's very tough and durable and getting a lot of hard yards."Mason has scored at least one touchdown in six straight games and 13 of the last 16 for Auburn (8-1, 4-1 SEC)."It feels excellent. I'm happy to get another win," Mason said. "My (offensive) line, they blocked great tonight, (H-back) Jay Prosch, the receivers, and that allowed me to be successful tonight."Though Arkansas dominated possession 21:43 to 8:17 in the first half, Auburn had a 14-3 lead at the break thanks to Mason, a pair of takeaways and a goal-line stand.Arkansas (3-6, 0-5) opened the game with a 13-play, 61-yard drive but turned it over when defensive end Dee Ford tipped an AJ Derby pass and linebacker Cassanova McKinzy intercepted it.After the Razorbacks got the ball back, Derby fumbled and Kris Frost recovered at the Arkansas 29-yard line. Two plays later, Mason scored his first touchdown.Mason added his second score which made it 14-3 with 10:53 to go in the first half.Jonathan Williams had 15 carries for 1-4 yards and Alex Collins added 92 yards on 18 carries for Arkansas, which saw another lo迷你倉最平g drive go for naught in the second quarter. The Razorbacks went 73 yards on 17 plays in 8:13 but back-to-back stops at the 1-yard line by linebacker JaViere Mitchell helped Auburn take a 14-3 lead into the break."They kept the ball away from us a lot in the first half," Malzahn said. "We were able to run the football, and I felt like a big play in the game was the fourth-down stop by our defense."Mason capped an 11-play, 65-yard drive to open the third quarter to make it 21-3. Auburn added another touchdown when Nick Marshall (7-for-8 for 118 yards and a touchdown, with 59 rushing yards) found Sammie Coates for an 88-yard scoring pass."It's one of my things; I'm a good deep ball guy," said Coates, who had three receptions for 102 yards and the score. "The quarterback did a great job throwing it out there so I could catch it, nobody else."Marshall, who is recovering from a right shoulder injury, made his eighth start of the season. The junior college transfer described his injury, which he suffered last week against FAU, as a "deep bruise" and said he did not throw in practice until Thursday."I wasn't too much worried about it because if you get out there and think, you're probably going to hurt it again," Marshall said. "I just put it in the back of my mind and just played."Arkansas scored back-to-back touchdowns to cut the gap to 28-17 with 14:54 to play, but never got closer. Mason added his fourth touchdown with 10:17 to go."It's a lot of fun having the ball in your hands, making plays," Mason said. "We got to be consistent, put points on the board, and get better."The win was the first for Malzahn in four trips since leaving Arkansas, where he served as offensive coordinator, following the 2006 season. The Arkansas high school football legend downplayed his return to the state where he made his up-tempo style of football famous all week."I didn't get into seeing friends and all that," Malzahn said. "This is a business trip. We got time to come back in the offseason."Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Montgomery Advertiser (Montgomery, Ala.)
