Hamlin charges past Roncalli girls

Source: American News, Aberdeen, S.迷你倉D.Dec. 21--HAYTI -- Aberdeen Roncalli couldn't finish what it started Friday. The Cavaliers, who led by six points midway through the final period, dropped a 54-50 decision to Hamlin in a Northeast Conference girls' basketball game Friday night."We didn't finish it the way we wanted to, for sure," said Roncalli coach Derek Larson.Offensively, Roncalli managed just one point in the final 2 1/2 minutes and had five turnovers. Defensively, the Cavaliers could not prevent Hamlin from getting offensive rebounds that the hosts eventually turned into points, as the Chargers scored the final six points of the game."When you give up second chance points to a team that's a good basketball team, you're probably not going to win the game," Larson said. The Chargers owned a 47-29 advantage in rebounds and hauled down 18 offensive caroms on the night.Roncalli, which owned a 49-44 lead with 2:45 remaining, had to head down the stretch without senior leader Paige Sommers, who was forced out of the game because of an ankle injury."Inexperience in crucial situations is definitely something that cost us tonight," Larson said. The Cavaliers overcame an early deficit and led for the majority of the contest. Roncalli still owned a two-point lead with one minute remaining before Ali Lakness tied the score. Alicia West made three f文件倉ee throws and Molly Koisti added another for the final margin of difference.Kennedy Noem led Hamlin with 14 points and 10 rebounds.Sommers topped Roncalli with 13 points.
