Police: Driver huffing aerosol can prior to arrest

Source: The Eagle, Bryan, TexasDec.迷你倉最平 29--A Bryan man believed to be involved in a hit and run accident was caught huffing an aerosol can before his arrest, police said.A witness contacted police after watching a black Kia jump a curb, drive through a yard and strike an electrical pole near the corner of Carter Creek and Sharon Drive on Thursday, according to the police report.The witness told the driver to speak with the owner of the property, but the driver fled the scene, police said.Police caught up to the vehicle near Woodland Drive and Wayside Drive, where they found Franklin Joseph Parker, 36, slumped over in his car, while stopped against a curb in the oncoming traffic lane, according to the report.As officers approached the car, they heard a faint sound "as if someone was releasing air pressure out of a tire" and saw Parker "suck as much air in as he could" from an Ultra Duster Industrial Strength aerosol can, the report stated.As they removed Parker from 迷你倉is car, one of the officers noticed he had a blank stare and "although he was looking at me, he had no idea what was going on," according to the report.In minutes, Parker went from "completely passed out inside a running vehicle to disoriented and combative, to apologetic, coherent and very well-spoken," the officer noted in the arrest report.Inhalants can affect the body much like alcohol does, causing slurred speech, lack of coordination, euphoria and dizziness, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.Parker was charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor punishable by a $2,000 or up to six months in jail.
