Madison Village aims to redo zoning code

Source: The News-Herald, Willoughby, OhioOct.儲存倉 23--Madison Village officials are on their way to overhaul the village's zoning code to be more enforceable and readable.After four years in the making, Madison Village Council introduced its comprehensive zoning ordinance at Monday's Council meeting that repeals the previous zoning ordinances from 1996 and 2003. Councilman Dan Donaldson, who is chairman of Planning Commission and Zoning Advisory Group, said the legislation doesn't make any major changes to the zoning laws on the books now."This was an effort to get our zoning code cleaned up and in one document," Donaldson said. "It's pretty much the existing ordinance put in a new format (to be) clear and concise."Most of that formatting includes defining classifications in a matrix versus blocks of texts. He said the last assortment of ordinances that made up the zoning code was fragmented and hard to manage for inspectors and the general public.He said businesses looking to move into the village might have a difficult time going through the current code.Councilman Mark Vest, who also serves on the advisory gr迷你倉最平up, said the legislation also makes small changes to building code rules that aren't regulated under the Lake County Building Department.Monday's first reading was met with little objections. Two more readings are scheduled for November. A public forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 18 before council members vote on the third reading.Village Council also introduced a resolution of appreciation at Monday's meeting to the Madison Community Improvement Corporation and its volunteer partners for enhancements at Dana Park, located at 46 N.
