Clara B. Mounce Public Library renovations almost complete

Mounce Public Library in Bryan has been undergoing renovations on the second floor since early September, which are expected to be completed by the end of the month.Renovations were started on Sept. 4, and the second floor has been completely redone, said Larry Koeninger, the library system director of the Bryan-College Station Public Library System. The floor previously had meeting rooms in the middle, which divided the space into three sections. The meeting room has been moved to the north side of the building to make the entire area more visible, Koeninger said."One thing that does is give us all the windows on that side for natural light to come in there, so it's going to be a brighter space than it was," he added.In the newly renovated space, the library will have shelves full of books for young adults and older children in upper elementary grades. Younger children's books are staying in their current location."We'll have a nice, open middle area for some tables and chairs, and p迷你倉aces for people to sit at tables and work or sit with their kids in a nice comfy chair and read," Koeninger said.The computer lab located upstairs had to be completely dismantled, so the computers and cables went into storage, he said. The computer lab has been moved to the other side of the library, and new flooring will be laid down this weekend. The lab will be completely put back together next week, Koeninger said.The project was budgeted at $70,000 for the construction, Koeninger said, but the furniture is a separate project. The staff will continue to move bookcases and furniture around, and hope to be finished by the end of November.Due to the renovations, the library had to move four computer classes to the Carnegie History Center.
